The extra funding has been welcomed by Cllr Nesil Caliskan, chair of the Local Government Association’s safer and stronger communities board, who said the voluntary sector plays a “key role” in supporting victims of domestic abuse.
Locally, St Helens Borough Council has already provided additional funding to the Safe2Speak service this financial year in response to a growing demand for support since the onset of the pandemic.
Safe2Speak is a free service delivered by Torus, and offers support to any resident of St Helens who is a victim of any form of domestic abuse. ....
