Exporters to seek government intervention if things take a turn for the worse
Indian exporters of goods to Myanmar have their fingers crossed about the future as the continuing military unrest in the neighbouring country is turning shipping lines jittery with some suspending operations and most others going slow.
The situation at the moment is not “highly alarming” as transactions have not come to a stop, but there could be a big problem in the future if things don’t improve and exporters’ concerns will be taken up with the government soon, per exporters’ body Federation of Indian Export Organisations (Fieo). ....

Freight Forwarders request meeting with GSA over additional charges by shipping lines
Members of the Concerned Freight Forwarders and Traders Ghana have requested a meeting with the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority (GSA) over the additional charges introduced by shipping lines.
According to them, the additional charges have come at a time they are dealing with the ravages of the coronavirus pandemic.
This further compounds the problems they are already facing, a statement signed by the Chairman of the group, Oheneba Afaawuah said.
“We have received various port additional charges to be introduced by the shipping lines effective March 1. They (Shipping Lines) claim the Ghana Shippers Authority has approved these charges,” the statement said. ....

The Lagos State Government has announced its readiness to commence the impounding of heavy articulated vehicles operating outside the call-up list generated by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) if caught obstructing the free flow of traffic on the roads.
This follows the resolve of the state government to end the incessant gridlock that is experienced at the Apapa-Oshodi expressway, port access roads and the Apapa axis.
This disclosure was made by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation and Chairman of the Special Traffic Management Team, Mr Oluwatoyin Fayinka, while speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting held on Thursday at Adeyemi-Bero Auditorium, Ikeja. ....
