After Carolina Beach condominium fire, two bartending friends reflect

Both Callie Ryan and Chad Jeffrey say they can t imagine doing anything else.
They both thrive on the social interactions that go along with being bartenders in a friendly, close-knit beach community. The friends and roommates both work at The Dive on N. Lake Park Blvd. in Carolina Beach and have a long history in the food and beverage business there.
They are also survivors of the fire that destroyed their home, and many others, in the Paradise Cove community on April 2.
Of the two, Ryan was the only one home.
“I had just gotten home from having lunch with friends,” she said. “And then in 15 minutes the fire broke out. And then it seemed like in another 15, the building was burnt to the ground.” ....

CAROLINA BEACH, N.C. (WECT) - The Carolina Beach Bar Club organized a fundraising event for two victims of the Paradise Cove fire who lost everything.
The funds raised will be used to help local residents Callie Ryan and Chad Jeffrey, who lost everything in last Friday’s fire, including pets.
The event is today, April 10th, from 12 p.m.- 5 p.m. at The Last Resort in Carolina Beach. ....
