Accused planned to start a hotel with money earned through looting
The Kharghar police have arrested four men who shot at a real estate agent in Kharghar while attempting to rob him on Saturday night. The accused have been identified as Gopal Nanu Singh (23), Abhinandan Kumar Ganesh Sharma (23) and Vipin Shailendar Thakur (19) from Haryana; and Muchan Nagendra Thakur (19) from Bihar. The accused said they planned to start a hotel with the money earned through looting.
The police said Prateek Ravindra Aher (24), a resident of Pen City in Raigad district, drove to Vashi on his two-wheeler at 3 p.m. to meet a friend. On the way back, via Sion Panvel highway, he took the Kopra gaon road after reaching Kharghar at 10 p.m.. When he stopped to smoke, the accused approached him and tried to loot his two-wheeler and mobile ....

The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has allotted 6,000 square metres of land in Kharghar to build a Haj House for pilgrims travelling from the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport.
CIDCO said on Friday it received a letter from the Additional Secretary, Union Ministry of Minority Affairs seeking allotment of five acres of land near the airport to set up a Haj House and a seasonal office for the Haj Committee. In October 2016, management of the Haj pilgrimage was transferred to the Ministry of Minority Affairs. ....

Navi Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], January 17 (ANI): A Nigerian national, Paul Chigbata Onuorohon, on Sunday has been arrested allegedly carrying 500 grams of Mephedrone by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) during raids conducted in Kharghar area of Mumbai.
Paul is a part of the distribution network of Drugs like Cocaine, Ecstacy, Mephedrone, and Charas in Mumbai and its outskirts. The investigation into the case is still in progress, said Sameer Wankhede, Zonal Director, NCB, Mumbai.
The NCB functions under the Ministry of Home Affairs and is responsible for collecting and analysing data related to seizures of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substance, collect and disseminate intelligence and work in close cooperation with the Customs, State Police and other law enforcement agencies.
