Bengaluru, March 17 (IANS) Continuing an upward trend, new Covid cases crossed the 1,000 mark in a day across Karnataka, with Bengaluru accounting for 710 of them, the state health bulletin said on Tuesday.

Revenue officer barred from Belagavi posting | Hubballi News

BELAGAVI: The high court’s Dharwad bench has directed the government to bar a revenue official from posting in Belagavi for five years for exerting “political influence” to get a transfer to the division.
On a writ plea filed by Jagadish R Roogi, regional joint director of land records (RJDLR) in Kalaburagi, the bench quashed the transfer order of S Nissar Ahmmed, joint director of land records (JDLR), and instructed the state not to appoint him to the post. The verdict was passed on February 22.
Roogi challenged his transfer to Kalaburagi on September 16, 2020 five days after taking charge as RJDLR in Belagavi, after working there as JDLR since 2017. He alleged that on August 24, Ahmmed was posted to Belagavi as JDLR and asked to report to him. However, on September 16, Ahmmed was ordered to take charge as RJDLR and Roogi told to shift to Kalaburagi. Roogi moved court after the administrative tribunal (KAT) rejected his plea. ....

A group of 66 final-year students pursuing Bachelor of Science in Agriculture at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kalaburagi, are showing the way to increasing farm income and cut input costs to make agriculture more remunerative.
Two months ago, the students began planning to cultivate on 38 guntas of land and started experimenting on it. They are now producing an array of fruits and vegetables that have generated an income of ₹2 lakh in just two months. ....

Kalagi high school, sealed after COVID-19 cases, to reopen on March 8

The district authorities on Saturday ordered the reopening of Kalagi Government High School, which was sealed after 15 students tested positive for COVID-19, on Monday.
Block Education Officer Siddveerayya Rudnur told
The Hindu that the throat swab samples of 172 people, including students, teachers, and midday meal workers, collected on Friday had returned with negative results on Saturday. Deputy Commissioner V.V. Jyothsna visited the school on Saturday and ordered its reopening on Monday.
Earlier, the taluk health officials had collected the throat swab samples of 69 students randomly from February 25 to March 2, and 15 of them tested positive on Thursday. The District Health and Family Welfare Officer visited the school and directed the authorities to declare a holiday until further orders. ....
