The Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, in association with Panimalar Engineering College, recently developed a solar-power backed poultry incubator for rural and small scale poultry farmers to overcome problems arising due to power outages. According to the experts from TANUVAS, this is the first time such a device was being introduced in the country.

Many farmers using electric incubators have stated that hatchability has been affected due to power shortage or frequent suspension of supply. The power cuts cause difference in temperatures and humidity which lead to the death of the embryo. In an effort to tackle this, the TANUVAS â University Innovation and Instrumentation Centre developed a solar-powered model with final-year Electrical and Electricals students from Panimalar Engineering Colleg ....

A 61-year-old man, who was suffering from Parkinson s disease for the past few years, got relief through an implant at Apollo Speciality Hospitals here.
Speaking to reporters, the doctors said he was given Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS), sort of ‘pacemaker’ for the brain, similar to the pacemaker of the heart. It involves transmitting certain electrodes in parts of the brain which regulate electrical impulses to neutralise abnormal impulses that cause motor movement disorders.
The amount of stimulation is controlled by a pacemaker-type device installed under the skin of the chest which is connected to the electrodes through wires that travel under the skin. ....
