Retired bureaucrat Nilam Sawhney assumed office of Andhra Pradesh State Election Commissioner on Thursday. She had served as Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh till December 2020.
The State government sent names of three retired IAS officers to Governor Biswa Bushan Harichandan. The Governor appointed Ms. Sawhney as the SEC.
Ms. Sawhney, a 1984 batch IAS officer from Andhra Pradesh cadre, was supposed to superannuate on June 30, 2020, but she got an extension as the Chief Secretary. She was the first woman chief secretary in AP. Now, she will be the first woman SEC. ....
