The research and development wing at the Lakshmi Vidya Sangam (LSS) has successfully launched four new proprietary drugs - Dia-O-Gram, Arth-O-Gram, Stone-O-Gram and Kesh-O-Gram here on Friday.
Speaking at a press conference, the doctors and office-bearers of the Lakshmi Vidya Sangam said that the LSS, an ayurvedic and Siddha pharmacy, was initiated by the late founder T. S. Soundaram Ammal.
In 1977, the LSS had five drugs to its credit, and now it has 450 medicines with license today. The Sangam had a Good Manufacturing Practice Certificate from the Tamil Nadu government and a recognition from the Khadi Village and Industries Commission. ....

Tirupur MP seeks intervention of Centre to control yarn price | Coimbatore News

COIMBATORE: Tirupur MP K Subbarayan on Friday sought the immediate intervention of the central government to control the rising price of yarn as many textile units are on the verge of shutting down.
Speaking to reporters in Tirupur, the MP said the textile units, which were badly affected during the lockdown, have just recovered. “At a time when they are returning to normalcy, the abnormal price rise of yarn has been affecting them at large,” he said.
The MP said he wrote to Union textile minister Smriti Irani in March in this regard. Subbarayan said he had not received any reply from the minister nor from her ministry. He said he was ready to meet the minister in person to discuss the issue. ....

GRI gets new V-C - The Hindu

S. Madheswaran is the new Vice-Chancellor of Gandhigram Rural Institute (GRI) - Deemed to be University. Prior to the appointment as the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Madheswaran was Director Institute for Social and Economic Change, Bangalore.
The GRI Chancellor K. M. Annamalai has said that the new V-C shall remain in office for a term of five years.
Dr. Madheswaran has presented over 120 research papers and published numerous books. A recipient of the Kempe Gowda Award given by the Karnataka Government, he was also adviser - Planning, Programme Monitoring & Statistics Department.
A native of Erode district, he is widely popular among the academic circuit as a good teacher. He was a visiting scholar in Harvard University and many other top School of Economics, a press release from the GRI said on Wednesday. ....

Tumminakatti panchayat bags national award | Hubballi News

HAVERI: Tumminakatti Grama Panchayat of Haveri district has won the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Sashaktikaran Puraskar (DDUPSP) instituted by the Union ministry of panchayat raj for 2019-20.
Tumminakatti is the only GP that has been chosen for this prestigious award in the North Karnataka region. The award entails Rs 10 lakh cash prize and a trophy. Tumminakatti GP has also bagged Gandhi Gram Award for the appraisal year 2019-20.
The award is given to the best-performing panchayats (district, intermediate, and gram panchayats) across the states and Union Territories in recognition of the good work done at each level. Across the state, three other rural local bodies, including Mandya’s Yadaganahalli and Mysuru’s Karanakuppe GPs have been selected for the award. ....
