MERIDEN — City health officials plan to use new state funding for opioid overdose prevention on additional education and training for health care providers. 
Lea Crown, the city’s director of health and human services, provided an overview of the new grant to members of the City Council’s human services committee during a meeting last month. 
While health officials’ focus during the past year has been on combating the COVID-19 pandemic, they have continued to monitor the rate of opioid overdoses, including deaths.  ....
