THE Liberal Party has selected a candidate to run in the seat of Dunkley at the next federal election.
Lawyer Sharn Coombes was endorsed by the party at a meeting on 10 July. She is a barrister and former contestant on the reality TV show
Survivor.
Ms Coombes defeated former Dunkley MP Chris Crewther, former Carrum MP Donna Hope, and Chrestyna Kmetj in the race for preselection.
In a statement after the meeting, Mr Crewther said “recently, I put up my hand for preselection to again become the Liberal candidate for Dunkley, to try win the seat back, as I felt I had the best chance to do so and that I had a lot more to give both locally and nationally. Late yesterday I was unsuccessful though in this endeavour, coming 2nd out of 4 preselection candidates. I’d like to acknowledge fellow candidates, Donna Hope and Chrestyna Kmetj, and give my best wishes to the preselected Liberal candidate, Sharn Coombes.” ....

Elderly man missing in Melbourne found safe and well
A 92-year-old man who was missing in Melbourne has been found, police have said.
Police and family became concerned for Alleyne s welfare after he did not show up to his regular dance lesson yesterday.
His son Damien said Alleyne had been doing the dance classes regularly for 15 years, but had taken some time off.
He hasn t been last month or two, first time back for him in a while.

Mrs Robert’s son drowns at Dromana
ON Saturday last, the little six year old son of Mrs Roberts, of the Dromana Tea Rooms, was drowned at Dromana.
The little fellow was seen near the pier in the afternoon, and the body was found next morning 300 yards away.
His father was killed at the war.

Electoral boundaries shifting
NEW proposed boundaries for state electorates have been released by Victoria’s Electoral Boundaries Commission.
The electoral boundary for Mordialloc is set to change, providing a boost to the Labor party whose margin may slightly increase.
The EBC has proposed to abolish the Keysborough seat currently held by Labor minister Martin Pakula. Its voters will be redistributed to surrounding electorates in Dandenong, Clarinda, Mulgrave, and Mordialloc.
A report prepared by the EBC on the proposal read that Mordialloc will “be expanded east to gain about 10,000 electors in Braeside, Waterways and most of the Keysborough locality, offsetting its losses to Clarinda District in the north. This would greatly improve the shape of Mordialloc District, while also bringing in the relatively isolated Waterways locality where community links are potentially strongest. Importantly, the communities facing Port Phillip Bay would be maintained.” ....
