In November 2020, an internal working group (IWG) of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) recommended that India s large industrial houses be allowed to run banks to increase credit-to-GDP ratio from the current level of 50% to more than 150%, in line with many developed economies, for higher growth. A new government-owned development finance institution (DFI) is likely to be set up with India Infrastructure Finance Company’s (IIFCL’s) paid-up capital of Rs 10,000 crore and an equivalent amount from budgetary support. It may have a lower minimum capital adequacy ratio of 9 per cent, compared to 12-15 per cent for non-banking financial companies. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Act and the Banking Regulation Act may be amended to set up the DFI for enabling it access to a line of credit, according to the draft Cabinet note, said sources. ....

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], January 28 (ANI): Kerala Agriculture Minister VS Sunil Kumar on Wednesday said that the upcoming union budget will favour corporates and will have nothing for farmers.
It will be a budget which will favour corporates. There is no chance to get any favour from the central government for the downtrodden masses, especially farmers, Kumar told ANI.
They are trying to implement this anti-farmer act. The central government is still sticking to its stand then how can the problem be solved? he added.
He further said, They may try to dilute the agitation through some declarations for farmers and farming sector. It will be fake. I do not believe that the budget will favour society. ....
