Site cleared as travellers leave cycle route at Shipley | Bradford Telegraph and Argus

A CLEAN-up operation has been carried out after a group of travellers vacated an encampment on a public footpath between Gaisby Lane and Poplar Road in Shipley.
The travellers set up camp on the Canal Road Greenway, which is popular with cyclists and walkers, on Monday, April 5, and recently left the site.
Keighley Tree Services were seen clearing the site this week.
A spokesperson for Bradford Council said: “The travellers have moved on from the site and a clear-up of the site has been carried out.
Temporary measures to secure the path have been put in place so that the cycle-route can be re-opened and action is being taken to create a more permanent security solution to try and prevent similar incidents in the future.” ....

Bid to make Shipley town centre more pedestrian friendly | Bradford Telegraph and Argus

A number of on street parking bays would be moved.
The work is being funded through a mix of active travel funding, to boost walking and cycling, and the Government’s Towns Fund - a pot of cash awarded to towns across the country in need of regeneration.
Shipley could eventually see projects worth £25m funded through the scheme.
The Council has said: “This would help to reduce traffic along this route, reducing noise and air pollution, and improving bus journey times.
“Reducing the volume of vehicles in the Kirkgate area will also help to provide a safer, cleaner and more vibrant environment for everyone to enjoy.” ....

THE historic city centre pub Ring O Bells is back on the market - but now it as an office space.
The Grade II-listed pub, which closed a few years ago after declining trade, was in Bolton Road and was the place lots of people in Bradford spent many a memorable night over the decades.
However, since it closed down it has been transformed into a new, modern office space, and is now on the market for rent.
