SRINAGAR: The killing of Special Police Official (SPO) Fayaz Ahmad along with his wife Raja Begum, 48, and daughter Rafiya Jan, 22, on Sunday evening in Hariparigam village of Tral has left the locals perplexed and questioning. The only survivors are the slain man’s daughter-in-law and a minor granddaughter.

Decision to conduct on-line exams callous, isolated from ground reality in Kashmir: Dr Farooq on Jamia Millia's decision to hold on-line exams

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President and Member of Parliament from Srinagar Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Friday impressed upon J&K administration to make adequate arrangements for fast internet to help over 200 students to fill forms and also appear in various on-line exams of the university.
Criticizing Jamia Millia Islamia for its decision to conduct on-line exams, the party president called the measure callous and isolated from the ground reality in Kashmir. “The announcement of the university to go for an on-line examination is incognizant of the ground realities in J&K, where 2G internet speed and frequent clampdowns on the internet service are common. The guidelines that students would be responsible for ensuring electricity and internet for the complete duration of the test and the students would be responsible for any lapses on that front, are elitist in nature defeating the inclusiveness that JMI stood for since its inception.
