National Weather Forecast: Freezing day for eastern states while WA warned of fire danger


A strong wind warning is also current for Western Port, Gippsland Lakes and West Coast.
The conditions come after a freezing cold day yesterday as snow fell across the peaks in both states.
Temperatures hovered around 20C at lunchtime in Sydney however it felt more like 12C.

Canberra was 9.8C with an apparent temp (feels like) of 2.9C
Sydney was 19.5C with an apparent temp (feels like) of 12.9C
Thredo Top Station, elevation 1957m, was -2.8C with an apparent temp (feels like) of -17.8C
Ski resorts reported falls of 5 to 10 centimetres overnight with more falling constantly throughout today. ....

“Merino breeding is the only thing I have wanted to do since leaving school,” Rick said.
“We join 3,000 and have no wethers over one year of age. Our Merino breeding operation also includes a stud, and crossbred lambs are produced from second grade ewes.”
Rick and Jenny were finalists in the most recent Weekly Times Coles farmer of the year competition. ....

Victorian businesses are still waiting for payments from the previous two lockdowns, let alone lockdown 5.0

Businesses in Victoria look set to receive additional support payments from the state government, after entering the first day of a five-day snap lockdown this morning.
However, there are some businesses still waiting on the money promised last time the state was plunged into lockdown.
In a press conference today, Andrews announced a $200 million support package for businesses, with payments being automatically distributed to those who were eligible during the last lockdown.
He suggested payments could be made before the end of this lockdown, and businesses will receive a top-up of either $2000 or $3000. ....
