Active COVID-19 cases slowly receding in county, local long-term care outbreaks improving

Active case numbers continue to decline in Strathcona County, with only 88 total cases.
As of Thursday, Feb. 11, there are 67 active cases of the novel coronavirus in Sherwood Park and 21 cases in rural Strathcona County, according to Alberta Health Services’ geospatial case-tracking site COVID19Stats.Alberta.ca.

Summerwood Village Retirement Residence is in the midst of a terrible COVID-19 outbreak.
On Jan. 1, families of residents were told the facility was given the all-clear and its first outbreak, which began in mid-November, was declared lifted by Alberta Health Services.

This is the same facility where health-care aide and Ardrossan resident Rose Vandelannoite died from the virus after battling COVID for five weeks after contracting COVID-19 at work. She died on Jan. 10.
On Jan. 14, All Seniors Care, the company that operates the facility, told families a resident felt unwell and was sent to the hospital. There, he tested positive for COVID. That sent the seniors assisted living site back into lockdown and an outbreak was declared once again by the provincial health authority. ....
