My Turn: ‘We want a safe return for all’

The Greenfield Education Association has the same goal as the rest of the Greenfield school community to get our students and staff back into the buildings safely. We want to emphasize that the safety of our students and teachers will need a well thought out plan that considers social distancing, sanitizing spaces, air quality, lunch routines, bussing, and more in order to limit the spread of COVID-19 within our school buildings.
In August 2020, the School Committee voted to implement full remote learning. This decision was made before ever meeting with the Greenfield Education Association. Since that time, the GEA has been trying to bargain a contract that covers educators’ working conditions, which translate into students’ learning conditions. We want a safe return for all. ....
