Eight COVID-19 cases, variants of concern confirmed at Hapnot, McIsaac: provincial health

A school case is defined as a staff/student/volunteer affiliated with a K-12 school in Manitoba who tested positive for COVID-19 and was present in the school during the 28 days prior to the public health report date. If public health officials cannot rule out the possibility that the person was at the school during that time, then the case is classified as a school case. A school case does not necessarily mean there was acquisition or transmission at the school, reads the provincial school case dashboard.
While cases have been found at both schools, no outbreak has been officially declared by the province in either facility. No cases or outbreaks within the Flin Flon School Division (FFSD) have been announced in COVID-19 press briefings or news releases. ....

COVID-19 cases announced at Creighton School, Hapnot, McIsaac

We are working with [the] Saskatchewan Health Authority through Public Health to facilitate the contact investigation related to the school setting, reads a statement issued by Creighton School Division director of education Vincent Cable.
Once the contact investigation has been completed, all close contacts (high risk) that have been identified will be contacted directly and provided with the appropriate direction from Public Health regarding isolation, testing and follow-up.
Classes for the junior high and high school grades are meant to continue as normal May 21, with no class in the afternoon.
At this point, there is no evidence of COVID-19 transmission within the school setting, reads Cable s letter. ....

Creighton teacher Fritsch elected to provincial education body

Joining Fritsch on the board will be Nathan Bromm from the South East Cornerstone Teachers’ Association and Ben Goby from the Regina Public Teachers’ Association, who were both previously on the board and were reelected.
Fritsch and the other elected members will sit on the board for a two-year term. Four other members of the executive board - Neal Boutin, Vincent Mamer, Gwen Paul and Laura Skrumeda Sawby - were elected to the board last year and will be up for reelection again in 2022.

Creighton Community School reports first positive COVID-19 case: school division

Creighton School Division has been informed that there is one individual who has been confirmed to be COVID-19 positive at the school. We are working with Saskatchewan Health Authority through Public Health, to facilitate the contact investigation related to the school setting, reads the letter, a copy of which was obtained by The Reminder.
After contact tracing has been completed, all people deemed to be close contacts of the case will be contacted directly and will be provided with health adivce. In the meantime, a class close to the affected person has been told to isolate until the investigation is finished and the area of the school where the case was found will be deep cleaned and disinfected before reopening for class. ....

Creighton school board could be merged if province approves report's options

While there is some ambiguity, all scenarios would or could potentially force the Creighton School Division (CSD) to merge with another division.
“We’re still lobbying to stay alone, but whether we’ll succeed or not I have no idea,” said Raymond Biberdorf, chairman of the CSD board of trustees.
“We’re in a little corner here all by ourselves, so I just can’t see [a merger] happening, but we don’t have the final say.”
While the new report aims to find efficiencies in the system, Biberdorf sees no savings attached to dissolving CSD. He said Northern Lights School Division, the division that is geographically closest to Creighton, is based four hours away in La Ronge. ....
