'Weird coincidence' as courses disappear from D2L

Kristen Lavallee is completing her first year at Laurentian University in the Indigenous Social Work (ISWK) program.
She was one of several students whose course material suddenly disappeared from D2L, a learning software used by Laurentian professors across programs.
Lavallee said that online content was deleted from two of her courses, one of them an Indigenous studies course.
“The deletion of resources affected my ability to finish my final paper knowing the exact course expectations,” Lavallee said.
“It could be a weird coincidence… but considering what is happening with the INDG studies program it feels more than coincidental to me.” ....

We as students are currently in the midst of finals while Laurentian president Robert Hache attempts to financially restructure the institution that we, as a community of Sudbury, have grown to love and be proud of. ....

The impact of cuts proposed by Laurentian University struck harder on Tuesday as many students learned they would be losing teachers as well as, in some cases, whole programs and a shaken faculty met to review contract changes.
Professors were being asked to approve a modified collective agreement, as part of the restructuring process Laurentian launched through the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act, with a vote result expected by 10 p.m on Tuesday.
