LUSAKA, JANUARY 26, 2021 (CISA) – His Excellency President Edgar Lungu has joined the Church in mourning Fr Charles Chilinda SJ, director of Loyola Productions studio and Television station in Lusaka who succumbed to Covid -19 on January 21.
“In Fr Chilinda we have lost a selfless dedicated man of God. The passing on of Fr Chilinda is indeed a big blow not only to the Catholic Community, the society of the Jesus Community but to the entire country. On behalf of the government of the Republic of Zambia, the people and indeed on my own behalf, I wish to extend my heartfelt condolences to the Society of the Jesus Provincial Zambia- Malawi Province, Fr Leonard Chiti, may the Almighty God comfort the bereaved family and the Catholic Community and may the soul of Fr Chilinda rest in eternal peace,” the president said January 25 during the requiem Mass for Fr Chilinda held in Lusaka. ....

PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has urged the Catholic Community and bereaved families to look to God for strength and peace following the death of Catholic Fathers Charles Chilinda and Patrick Muyenga.
According to a statement issued by Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Isaac Chipampe, Friday, the Head of State said Father Chilinda and Father Muyenga were renowned priests who supported government efforts in uplifting the lives of the Zambian people especially the vulnerable.

Zambia : President Lungu mourns Catholic Priests

President Edgar Lungu is deeply saddened by the death of Catholic Priests Charles Chilinda and Patrick Muyenga who died in Lusaka’s Maina Soko Military Hospital yesterday.
The President said Fr. Chilinda and Fr. Muyenga were renowned priests who supported the government’s efforts in uplifting the lives of the Zambian people especially the vulnerable.
