Whilst birding Ushaiqer waste dump I found at least two Eastern Imperial Eagles. The birds were seen sitting on the ground amongst about fifty Steppe Eagles and allowed close approach in the car. I took the below photos which are some of the best photos I have of the species. The Eastern Imperial Eagle is an uncommon winter visitor to Saudi Arabia with most records coming from the north of the country where they are generally seen inland rather than near the coast. The species breeds from Eastern Europe across Asia to China and winters in the Middle East, east Africa south to Tanzania, the Arabian Peninsula, India, and from Thailand to Korea. Currently Eastern Imperial Eagle is listed as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List as it has a small global population and is likely to be undergoing continuing declines, primarily as a result of habitat loss and degradation, persecution and prey depletion. ....

PARIS, France, August 3, 2021 (ENS) – Sheltering endangered animals, birds and butterflies, giant trees, pristine waters – five natural sites are so precious to the world that they deserve the protection of World Heritage status, the UNESCO World Heritage Committee has decided. The five are now on the list, bringing the number of World Heritage natural sites to 218.
During its two-week-long 44th session that concluded Friday, held online and chaired by China from Fuzhou, the 21-country World Heritage Committee examined nominations submitted in 2020, when the session had to be postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and in 2021. ....

Located at the foot of the Zagros mountains in north-western Iran, Zarivar is a freshwater wetland hosting over 74 bird species, which is designated as a Ramsar Site.
Over 30,000 migratory birds have come from their habitats in Central Asian countries and Siberia to winter in Gandoman wetland, southwestern Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari province.
Currently, 50 species of birds live in the wetlands of the province, Shahram Ahmadi, head of the province’s department of environment, said on Saturday.
These birds include ducks, Eurasian teal, egrets, herons, flamingos, small and large grebes, sandpipers, coots, bitterns, northern lapwing, large white-headed gulls, and sternidae. ....
