A Coralville man faces charges that he attacked an Iowa City Police officer after getting kicked out of a bar.
Officers were called to The Vine on East Prentiss Street just before 6:30 Tuesday night for two subjects refusing to leave. Investigators asked one of the men, 51-year-old Francisco Sanchez-Valdez of the Western Hill Estates manufactured housing community, to identify himself. He refused and began to walk away.
Officers attempted to stop Sanchez-Valdez, but he allegedly tensed up, resisted, and attempted to pull away. Police say he was given several orders to stop resisting, but instead he kicked them and kept fighting back. ....
