13 compounded for violating Friday prayer SOP in Kuala Kedah

ALOR SETAR: A total of 13 individuals who performed Friday prayers at a mosque in Kuala Kedah near here, yesterday were compounded a total of RM19,500 for violating the standard operating procedures (SOPs) of the Movement Control Order (MCO).

pix) said acting on public information, three Op Covid-19 monitoring teams together with a team from the Home Ministry went to the location at about 2pm and found 34 individuals including children inside the mosque.
“We let them complete their prayers first before taking action. They observed physical distancing and wore face masks during prayers but they violated the SOP regarding the number of congregation members,” he told reporters, here. ....

ALOR SETAR: Special Ramadan activities are allowed to be held in mosques and suraus in five districts in Kedah that are placed under the Movement Control Order (MCO), including those in the red zone, effective today.
Kedah Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JHEAIK) director Mohd Yusri Md Daud said this followed the relaxation of the standard operating procedure (SOP) on the MCO by the National Security Council (MKN).
“Special activities during the month of Ramadan in all zones (in districts subject to MCO) are allowed with a specific time limit. All mosques and suraus must be closed after completion of the Friday, obligatory and Tarawih prayers. ....

SETAR: The Kedah Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JHEAIK) will increase monitoring at 71 restaurants and eateries in the state known to be frequent haunts for those who skip fasting during Ramadan.
State Religious, Education and Human Resource committee chairman Brig Gen (R) Datuk Najmi Ahmad said 200 JHEAIK enforcement personnel and officers will be mobilised to monitor and take action against individuals and businesses involved.
“Usually, businesses that operate during the fasting month are the same people every year and it might be their habit every Ramadan (to sell food and drink to those who skip fasting),” he said at a media conference here today. ....

ALOR SETAR, Jan 20 Only 50 worshippers, apart from mosque and surau officials and committee members, are allowed to perform Friday prayers in Kedah during the movement control order (MCO) period.
Kedah Islamic Religious Affairs Department director Mohd Yusri Md Daud said only five mosques or surau committee members were allowed to perform the daily obligatory prayers in a congregation.
‘’The mosque and surau committees are responsible for picking suitable methods to select the worshippers and managing them to ensure the smooth process of Friday and obligatory prayers at mosques or surau,” he said in a statement here today. ....
