MANSEHRA: The first-ever residential public school for girls is all set to launch its regular classes in Shahlia by August this year.
“We are appointing faculty and other staff as regular classes for this modern residential educational facility will be launched by August this year,” Dr Waqar Ali Rizvi, the principal of the school, told reporters on Tuesday.
He said that a state-of-the-art educational facility was built by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government in 2016 for imparting quality education to students.
Dr Rizvi, who is also the principal of the Abbottabad Public School, said that management of Abbottabad Public School would run the residential school in Mansehra and it would serve as a subsidiary of the Elementary and Secondary Education Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. ....

Boeing Reports Loss as Air Force One Work Drags

Boeing Co. said its work on replacing the Air Force One presidential jets is behind schedule, taking another charge on the loss-making program that has added to the financial pressures from the stuttering recovery of its commercial airliner business.
The aerospace giant is contracted to deliver two converted 747-8 jumbo jets by the end of 2024, but has been forced to switch suppliers for some of the interior work on the planes. It took a $318 million pretax charge on the project in the latest quarter, the second in a year and the latest drag from a defense unit that it is relying on to carry it through to a recovery in commercial airline traffic. ....

World Bank reassures support for SL to build back better from COVID-19

The World Bank’s Country Director for Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka, Faris Hadad-Zervos, concluded a successful visit to Sri Lanka recently where he reiterated the World Bank’s commitment to support Sri Lanka’s efforts towards recovery and to build back better from the COVID-19 shock.
Based in Kathmandu, Nepal, this latest mission followed the Country Director’s introductory visit to Sri Lanka last November after assuming his new role in July 2020. Hadad-Zervos was joined by Chiyo Kanda, the Country Manager for Maldives and Sri Lanka, based in Colombo.
“Sri Lanka’s economy is on the road to recovery after the worst downturn on record last year. The World Bank stands ready to support the Sri Lankan Government as it strives to protect its people from the pandemic, while addressing the vulnerabilities in the macro-fiscal environment,” said Faris. CHANGSHA The former residence of late Chairman Mao Zedong in his hometown of Shaoshan, in Central China s Hunan province, reopened to the public Sunday following renovation work, said local authorities.
The renovation started on March 1 and mainly dealt with the leaking roof, damaged walls and the protection of the structure s wooden components against corrosion and damage by insects.
The former residence of Mao Zedong in Shaoshan opened to the public in 1951. It has received more than 100 million visits from both home and abroad. ....
