Jaipur: Seven Pakistani Hindu refugees who were living in Jaipur since the past 15 years were provided Indian citizenship on Friday.
Jaipur district collector Antar Singh Nehra gave Indian citizenship to the Pakistani refugees at the Jaipur collectorate. Jawahar Ram, Sonoari Bai, Gojar Bai, Gordhan Das, Ganesh Chand, Basan Bai and Arjan Singh were granted citizenship.
Nehra congratulated the Pakistanis on becoming Indian citizens and hoped that they would serve the country and live as dutiful citizens. ....

GUWAHATI: The Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) has criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his statement an election rally in West Bengal on Thursday that the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) would be enforced once the vaccination drive is over in the country.
Addressing to the media on Friday, AJP vice president Adip Kumar Phukan said, It shows the anti-Assam stance of the incumbent BJP government.
If the BJP government forcefully implement the Act, which is anti-constitutional and harmful for the people of the country, the people of Assam have to stand against the move, Phukan added. ....

Kolkata: Ending the speculation over the implementation of the CAA and NRC in poll-bound West Bengal, Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressing a public rally in Thakurnagar said after everyone in the country gets vaccinated, the BJP-led Central government will implement CAA.
“The Matuas and the minorities in West Bengal should not be worried over CAA. All are the citizens of the country and no one will be sent anywhere else,” said Shah adding that due to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s ‘non-cooperation’ the Central government couldn’t rename the Thakurnagar station as ‘Shridhar Thakurnagar’. ....

CAA: Torchlight rally by All Assam Students' Union (AASU)

GUWAHATI: The All Assam Students Union (AASU) took out a massive torchlight rally from Swahid Nyas at Uzan Bazar here on Friday evening to register its protests and opposition against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA). Such rallies were also carried from different parts of the State.
The City Police made elaborate security arrangements in and around Swaid Nyas premises on Friday and prevented the torchlight rally soon after it was taken out by top AASU leaders and workers.
AASU chief advisor Dr Samujjal Bhattacharjya, while condemning the police and Assam Government to prevent the students organization to take out the torchlight rally in a peaceful and democratic ways, demanded that the government to give exemplary punishment to the police officials responsible for the brutal killing of two youths –Sam Stafford and Dipanjal Das – on the city streets during the anti-CAA movement. ....
