BJP chief alleges Mamata’s silence speaks of her involvement in killings and over million fleeing their homes.
The Union Home Ministry has formed a four-member fact-finding team to look into reasons for the post-poll violence in West Bengal and also assess the ground situation in the state, officials said on Thursday.
The team, led by an additional secretary of the ministry, has left for the state.

On Wednesday, the ministry had sent a terse reminder to the West Bengal government to submit a detailed report on the post-poll violence and to take necessary measures to stop such incidents without any loss of time . Police have launched a manhunt for a businessman suspected to be behind a spate of highway robberies along the Naivasha-Mai Mahiu highway that targets goods on transit.
Naivasha police commander Samuel Waweru said based on information they got from one of the suspects in their custody, a trader whose identity has been concealed so as not to jeopardize the ongoing investigations, is the mastermind behind the armed robberies.
The trader is said to have gone into hiding after a suspect was arrested during a botched robbery on the highway last Sunday night. ....

Two suspected gangsters have been shot dead by police officers in Kawangware.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations said the two were part of a group that has been terrorising members of the public.
The DCI said one of the suspects was lucky to escape in the Wednesday night incident.
The officers, who were on foot patrol within stage 56, responded in the nick of time after the thugs had just attacked a man at gunpoint. Earlier on, the officers had challenged them to surrender but the thugs shot at them, triggering a fierce shootout that led to the death of the two. However, one of them escaped using a motorbike whose identification was concealed,” the DCI said. ....
