'Decades of jobs' for CQ from resources development plan

Central Queenslanders will enjoy decades of jobs from a bold new resources sector development plan aimed at harnessing the $82.6 billion industry.
The Queensland Resources Industry Development Plan was launched by Resources Minister Scott Stewart on Thursday, April 29.
Queensland Resources Council chief executive Ian MacFarlane said the plan was a crucial step toward building the state s global reputation as a low-emissions energy superpower.

The State Government is delivering on its pre-election commitment to work with the QRC and other stakeholders to develop a plan that maximises the benefits and addresses the challenges facing resources companies and resources communities at a critical time in world history, he said. ....

The role critical minerals like H-Hydrogen will play in lowering world carbon emissions was front and centre this week at the Queensland Exploration Council renewable energy technologies showcase.
With Queensland’s huge potential to provide the critical and rare earth minerals needed to manufacture smart phones, solar panels and electric cars, Queensland Exploration Council chair Kim Wainwright said it was an exciting time to be in the exploration sector.
The showcase, Ms Wainwright said, illustrated the role critical minerals would play in lowering world carbon emissions through renewable energy technologies.

Central Queensland’s booming resources and energy industry has numerous jobs waiting to be filled by competent, enthusiastic locals keen to secure employment.
Queensland Resources Council (QRC) chief executive Ian Macfarlane said across the state there were more than 1000 jobs the Queensland resources and energy sector was looking to fill.
In Central Queensland alone there are currently 84 vacant positions on Seek in Rockhampton, the Capricorn Coast and Gladstone.
Mr Macfarlane said Queensland’s resources sector supported more than 420,000 jobs across the state, and despite COVID-19, international market conditions and commodity price fluctuations the sector was continuing to hire staff. ....
