PML-N’s Malik Moazzam was in the lead with 69,816 votes against PTI’s Ali Hussain who had acquired 59,235 votes as results from 220 of 229 polling stations of PP-84 Khushab by-election trickled in till filing of this report.
The seat had fallen vacant after the death of PML-N MPA Malik Waris Kallu, who died on March 12 from Covid-19.
The polling started at 8 am and continued till 5 pm without any break. The government by way of preparations, had formed 10 teams to monitor the electoral process all the way to the announcement of the results. The PML-N, PTI and PPP were among the parties contesting the poll, with a total of eight candidates in the race. ....

KHUSHAB:
The polling for by-elections in Punjab Assembly constituency PP-84 (Khushab) commenced on Wednesday.
The seat fell vacant due to the death of PML-N lawmaker Mohammad Waris Kallo, who had won the elections in 2018 with 66,775 votes.
According to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the total number of registered voters in the constituency are 292,687.
There are 155,104 male and 137,583 female voters. A total of 229 polling stations have been set-up in the constituency (27 for male, 26 for female and 176 joint).
About 43 polling stations had been declared sensitive whereas about 14 polling stations have been declared highly sensitive with respect to security concerns and 172 normal. ....

The polling for by-elections in Punjab Assembly constituency PP-84 (Khushab) concluded on Wednesday evening.
The seat fell vacant due to the death of PML-N lawmaker Mohammad Waris Kallo, who had won the elections in 2018 with 66,775 votes.

A Pakistani woman gave birth to a child in one of the polling stations of Punjab Assembly constituency PP-84 Khushab where the polling was being held on Wednesday to fill the seat vacated by the death of the lawmaker.
The child was born at the Mith Tiwana Rural Health Centre, which had been turned into a polling station for the by-poll.
The child’s father, Salamat, said he was ecstatic over the birth of his child. I am very happy at the birth of my child on election day. We will name the child after giving some thought to it. This is his first child.” Following the delivery, the mother and the child are now fine. ....
