Cross-country skiing takes hold in Cold Lake

A group of Nordic skiers have come together to share their love for the sport with the City of Cold Lake.
It all started with Les and Sarah Parsons, who founded the Bonnyville Nordic Ski Club, and put a call out in Cold Lake to see if there were any cross-country skiers in the city interested in joining them.
A meeting was held at the Energy Centre in October. About 10 people showed up, and the result was a Facebook group called the Cold Lake Nordic Skiers, which now has over 80 members.
Any Cold Laker interested in cross-country skiing can join the Facebook page and participate, free of charge, in its group skis, which to date have included three moonlight skis, as well as a ski trip to Muriel Lake, all of which have been organized by volunteers. ....

Cross-country skiing continues to be popular in the Lakeland, so much so that the Cold Lake Nordic Skiers is offering another round of lessons starting March 6.
The classes will run over three weeks and will be taught by Paul Revenboer and Chantal Chamberlain.
