Creative Assembly has finally nailed boss battles in Total War It’s hard to be too cynical about the climactic battles that conclude many of Total War: Warhammer II’s campaigns. If a line of rotten shipwreck-automata blasting arm-cannons at spiky Dark Elves while a giant fish swims around your underwater battlefield doesn’t make you smile, then you’re as heartless as they are. But these battles are also a mechanical fudge. 20 units with fixed health and vigour have a natural lifespan, and while the healing superpowers you often get to wield go some way to extending it, they’re an inelegant, partial solution. Playing one of Total War: Warhammer III’s new survival battles has made this clear to me. Pitched by CA as the game’s ‘boss fights’, survival battles crib from tower defence games to create 40-minute spectacles that, on this evidence at least, fully deliver on what the devs intend.
Freezing the Blood God. 13/05/21 After the quickfire releases of Total War Warhammer and its first sequel, coming just a year and a few months apart, the wait for the third and final instalment in the fantasy trilogy has been surprisingly long. Sure, there’s been more than a few expansion packs and additions to those first two games, but there’s also been four long years where the Eastern reaches of the map of the Warhammer world has been left blank. It’s time to fill that map in, to tell an epic new tale, to truly bring the fractious forces of Chaos to bear upon the world, and put the soldiers of Kislev and Grand Cathay on the front lines to turn the tide.
Vermintide 2: Chaos Wastes Impressions The latest expansion is easily Vermintide 2's best, and it's a riotous good time. Fatshark’s Warhammer: Vermintide 2: Chaos Wastes expansion has thoroughly consumed my free time since it launched a few days ago. The free update is available to everyone who owns the base game on PC, with a console release slated to follow soon, and it is easily Fatshark’s best update yet. If future Vermintide 2 expansions are more inline with the quality and deployment of Chaos Wastes, as compared to the middling Winds of Winter, then I can’t wait to see what further adventures are in store for the Ubersreik Five.

Fortunately, the Skaven, Chaos Warriors, and Beastmen make for near eternally good fodder, but developer Fatshark wants to give you a new type of challenge with its latest Chaos Wastes DLC for Vermintide 2. It wants to pit you and your team against the random malice of the Chaos gods, each journey will start from scratch, and your path to success or failure will never be the same. And what’s more, this particular DLC is free.
Warhammer: Vermintide 2 has pit its adventurers against countless Skaven rodents, Chaos Warriors, and the warped monstrosities they have a tendency to employ for three years now. You might think the Skaven breeding grounds or the Chaos realm might be running dry. You would think wrong. A new battle awaits in Vermintide 2, and this time developer Fatshark will be taking players to the nightmarish Chaos Wastes in the next DLC. Fatshark teased the upcoming Warhammer: Vermintide 2 DLC - Chaos Wastes - via the Warhammer: Vermintide Twitter on March 8, 2021. For the uninitiated, the Chaos Wastes are a barren tundra of unholiness quite unlike anything we’ve seen in Vermintide so far. It is a home to immortal gods, an overlapping of the Realm of Chaos and the Realm of Mortals where unspeakable horror await those foolish enough to venture. It will also apparently be the battleground of our latest adventures in Vermintide as the new Chaos Wastes DLC takes us on new missions into this vast and heinous realm sometime in April 2021.
