Senate urges FG to rehabilitate Ikorodu-Shagamu, Ikorodu-Itoikin-Epe roads

Abuja, April 28, 2021 The Senate on Wednesday directed its Committee on Works to liaise with the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing to include further funding for the rehabilitation of the Ikorodu-Shagamu road in the 2022 Appropriation Bill.
The upper chamber also directed the Committee and the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing to provide appropriate funding for the reconstruction of the Ikorodu-Itoikin-Epe road in the 2022 Appropriation bill.
The resolutions of the Senate followed a motion sponsored by Sen. Tokunbo Abiru (APC-Lagos) during plenary.
The motion is titled: “Urgent need for the rehabilitation of the Ikorodu-Shagamu and Ikorodu-Itoikin-Epe road to further bridge the infrastructure gap and enhance economic growth in Nigeria.” ....

Senate Seeks Additional Funds for Rehabilitation of Ikorodu-Shagamu Road

The Senate at Wednesday plenary mandated its Committee on Works and Housing to liaise with the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing to include further funding for the rehabilitation of the Ikorodu-Shagamu road in the 2022 Appropriation bill.
It also resolved to provide appropriate funding for the reconstruction of the Ikorodu-Itoikin-Epe road in the 2022 Appropriation bill while directing the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing to explore the possibility of other financing sources in order to accelerate the completion of both roads.
The resolutions followed the adoption of a motion on the urgent need to rehabilitate the two roads to further bridge the infrastructural gap and enhance economic growth in Nigeria, sponsored by Senator Adetokunbo Abiru (Lagos East) and co-sponsored by Senators Remi Tinubu (Lagos Central), Adamu Aliero (Kebbi Central), Adeola Olamilekan (Lagos West), Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun West), Tolu Odebiyi, (Ogun West) an ....

ENHA applauds Enugu Govt. for move to decongest Enugu city

Enugu, Jan. 20, 2021 The members of Enugu State House of Assembly have applauded the move by Enugu State Government to decongest the metropolis with the construction of the proposed New Enugu City.
Mr Chima Obieze, Chairman, Enugu State House of Assembly (ENHA) Committee on Works, Housing and Urban Development, gave the commendation on Wednesday in Enugu during an inspection of the level of work at the site.
The chairman said the proposed new Enugu City, sited on 279 hectares of land at Ugwuaji area of the Enugu, when fully developed, would help to decongest the already congested metropolis.
He attributed the development of the city to the vision and determination of Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to spread development to other parts of the state. ....

2020 budget: Reps approve N453.2bn for NDDC

The House of Representatives on Thursday approved the 2020 budget of N453.2 billion for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for the period ending March 31, 2021.
The approval was sequel to the consideration and adoption of the report of the House Committee on NDDC by the Committee of Supply at plenary, which was presented by NDDC Chairman, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
Out of the N453.200 billion, N27.389 billion is for Personnel Expenditure, N13.937 billion is for Overhead Expenditure, N2.793 billion is for Internal Capital and N409.080 billion is for Development Projects.
A further breakdown of the budget showed that the sum of N27.389 billion is for Personnel Expenditure; the sum of N13,937,244,107 is for Overhead Expenditure; while the sum of N2,793,755,893 is for Internal Capital, N409.080 billion is for Development Projects for the period ending on 31 March 2021. ....

Niger assembly accuses works ministry of gross misconduct over 2020 budget

Minna, December 17, 2020 The Committee on Works at the Niger State House of Assembly has accused the Ministry of Works of gross misconduct over expenditure it incurred above its approved 2020 appropriation.
Vice Chairman of the Committee, Malik Bosso, made the allegation while speaking to newsmen, shortly after meeting with officials of the ministry at the 2021 budget defence at the House of Assembly Complex in Minna.
He explained that the assembly approved about N8 billion for the ministry’s capital projects in the 2020 budget, including the revised budget of the ministry, whereas the ministry, in highlighting its 2020 budget performance, said that it expended about N10 billion on its 2020 capital projects. ....
