The Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria, FOMWAN Oyo State Chapter has congratulated Muslim faithful on the completion of 2021 thirty days fast.
Oyo FOMWAN in a congratulatory message to Islamic faithful across the globe said this year’s Ramadan again provided opportunity for millions of Muslim to achieve and attain piety , and exercise self-restraint.
The message signed by the Oyo State FOMWAN Amirah, Alhaja Dr B.B Oloso expressed happiness that the 2021 Ramadan and Eid celebration did not experience much restrictions unlike the 2020 fast which witnessed lockdown occasioned by the ravaging Covid-19. ....

USAID Ensures Access to Education for Out-of-School Children' in Northern Nigeria'


Mr. Nurudeen Lawal, the Chief of Party USAID Northern Education Initiative spoke to Funmi Ogundare and explained the various strategies used and how the agency had partnered with different stakeholders at the state and federal levels in the last five years. The objective is to provide basic literacy opportunities to out-of-school children especially in Sokoto and Bauchi States, to enable them find their feet, among other issues. Excerpts:
USAID is implementing the Early Grade Reading across Nigeria, what led to its introduction?
For learning to take place, it must start with reading as reading is the beginning of learning. USAID is leading the support across different countries to improve reading outcomes. The USAID’s Education Strategy Goal one is focused on improving reading skills for 100 million children in primary grades worldwide. Yahaya Bello commits to gender parity in governance


Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi on Monday pledged his commitment to gender parity in governance by giving women greater opportunities to participate in politics and top leadership positions.
Bello, who gave the assurance in an address to mark the International Women s Day in the state on Monday in Lokoja, said he had resolved to consolidate on his achievements by guaranteeing political empowerment for women.
Represented by his deputy,
Edward Onoja, the governor said there was need to sustain the effort at ensuring gender balance in governance, adding that gender equity would continue to receive topmost attention by his administration.
He recalled that his administration facilitated the election of 21 Chairpersons and 21 Council Leaders for the 21 Local Government Councils in the state. ....
