ISLAMABAD: Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood has tested positive for coronavirus.
Mehmood announced on Twitter he had contracted the infection, saying that he is fine with mild symptoms .
InshAllah will get well soon, he tweeted.
The minister had taken part in an event on Tuesday morning, before he tested positive for the virus. PM Imran Khan s special assistant Usman Dar was also present at the event, along with others.
Sources said the minister had gotten himself tested for the virus earlier after feeling mild symptoms.
However, instead of isolating himself, the minister attended the event where he, being the chief guest of the ceremony, also came to the stage and spoke to the youth and some officials there. ....

The government is concerned about the widespread Covis-19 outbreak in the country, and will carry out a detailed reassessment on the current situation before reopening all educational institutes, Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood said on Monday.
“We’re facing a lot of pressure on both sides … private school unions want us to reopen the campuses, and people are worried about their kids’ welfare,” he said.
Closing schools was a “tough call”, according to the federal minister, because schooling suffered greatly during the pandemic, especially among younger children’s education.

Intermediate and matriculation examinations will be given priority to other board exams, confirmed Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood on Thursday.
In a series of tweets, the minister announced that board exams in Pakistan will commence after June 15.

Exams from class 9 and first year will take place according to the time table issued by educational boards in Pakistan, Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood announced Wednesday.
