Kuala Lumpur: The Federal Territories Ministry has been urged to consider opening up the economic sector, particularly the shipping sector, in the Federal Territory of Labuan as it has achieved herd immunity to curb the spread of Covid-19.

Covid-19: FT Ministry preparing four new low-risk quarantine centres

Its Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa (
pic) said the four private PKRCs are at Royal Chulan Hotel, Jalan Conlay; International Youth Centre (IYC) in Bandar Tun Razak, Cheras; Tamu Hotel and Suites Kampung Baru and the Travelodge City Centre Hotel.
He said the PKRCs were for Category One and Two Covid-19 patients in the area to undergo self-quarantine and avoid the increase in positive cases due to close contact among family members.
Currently, those who test positive but are asymptomatic (Category One) or with mild symptoms (Category Two) are required to undergo self-quarantine at home. However, we find that most of them live in cramped and crowded houses, especially the B40 families in PPR and PA which are not conducive for the purpose, he said in a statement on Monday (July 26). ....

Repairs on faulty public housing lifts to start soon

Upgrading work on lifts at Desa Rejang Public Housing in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur is expected to commence soon.
In a statement to StarMetro, IM Global Property Consultants Sdn Bhd said the lifts were disabled after an inspection was done by the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) on April 21.
The inspection, which takes place every year, identified major faults with the lifts.
The company was appointed by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) Commissioner of Buildings to manage the 12 blocks of flats since Oct 1, 2019.
It said DOSH had instructed for upgrading work to be carried out on all 34 cars at the flats to renew the certificate of fitness of the lifts. ....

Residents urge DBKL to repair lifts soon

Residents of Desa Rejang Public Housing have to wait in a queue for a few working lifts each time one breaks down.
RESIDENTS of Desa Rejang Public Housing in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur are at their wits’ end over the frequent breakdown of lifts at the 12 blocks there.
They want Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to initiate repairs soon to solve the problem that has been ongoing for the past two years.
Desa Rejang Public Housing Residents Association (DRPHRA) chairman Mohd Noor Md Tahir, 60, said he wrote to the Federal Territories Ministry early this year to report the problem.
“On June 10, I met with Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Seri Mahadi Che Ngah who approved an allocation for the repairs. ....
