The jobs of 150 workers in regional south-west Victoria are under threat following the award of the wind turbine towers contract for the $360 million Ryan Corner wind farm to an overseas company.
Danish company Vestas has sent the contract for the manufacture of 52 wind towers offshore. This is despite the fact that Keppel Prince Engineering the only manufacturer of wind turbines on mainland Australia is located just 70km away from the project site. As a result, Keppel Prince will likely be forced to make 150 workers redundant. In a regional town with a population of just 10,000 people, the economic fall-out will be severe. ....

Non-compliance of court directives: SHC issues bailable warrant for federal secy finance

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has issued bailable warrant for the federal secretary finance for non-compliance of the court directives in a promotion case.
Hearing a petition of the Inland Revenue Officer against the denial of promotion for the last seven years, the court observed that the finance secretary did not submit his reply despite clear direction of the court on the last date of hearing.
The petitioner submitted that he was waiting promotion for the last seven years despite approval of his promotion by the selection board and the competent authority. The court observed that the federal secretary finance did not submit reply despite the court s direction and ordered issuance of bailable warrants for his appearance before the court on the next date of hearing. ....

ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Monday opposed the live broadcast of the review petition filed by Justice Qazi Faez Isa against the apex court judgment of June 19, 2020 to the extent of directions given to the Federal Board of Revenue after the full court quashed the Presidential Reference filed against the judge.
A 10-member larger bench, headed by Justice Umer Ata Bandial, heard the application in review petition filed by Justice Qazi Faez Isa seeking live broadcast of the proceedings.
