UPDATE: A 28-year-old man was arrested in Kennewick on Wednesday after an hours-long standoff with police.
According to the Kennewick Police Department, they were sent to 2906 W 7th Avenue where they learned the suspect, Socrates A. Diaz, had allegedly chased his family members through the home with “large machetes” while threatening to kill them. His family members were able to escape uninjured.
When police arrived, Diaz briefly came outside but then went back in and refused to come out.
The SWAT team was later called in as officers surrounded the residence. Officers say they used noise flash diversion devices, chemical agents and less lethal deployment to try to get Diaz to come outside. ....
