The Under-18 Mackay Meteorettes are one win away from playing off for a state championship following a hard-fought 58-51 win over Southern Districts Spartans on Friday.
The Meteorettes finished top of Pool A courtesy of the seven-point win over the then-second ranked Spartans.
The loss knocked the Spartans out of the top two and consigned them to a consolation final.
For the Meteorettes, the win capped a perfect 5-0 record in the pool matches, ahead of Saturday’s semi-finals.
Point guard Paris Santacaterina was again the prime mover for the Meteorettes, with another 23 points against the Spartans. ....
