Beaconsfield housing estate gets 12-month safety net on fees

The project is eligible for development concessions but with certain requirements including the subdivided lots be registered with the Mackay Regional Council by April 10 next year – a milestone Aurecon told the council it was confident of meeting based on its progress to date.
But the council was asked – and approved – a 12-month extension to the development period in response to a request Aurecon made, citing COVID-19 impacts and other factors.
Council documents from the final meeting of 2020 reported Aurecon requested the lapse date of the approved incentives be extended to April 10, 2022.
“The applicant has advised that the stage three portion of the application has been completed with lots registered on April 2, 2020,” documents state. ....

Mackay s rapid growth has created a green revival in the heart of Andergrove with a $5.18 million park master plan approved.
Mackay Regional Council voted to approve the masterplan for the Woodlands District Park Master Plan on Wednesday.
Mayor Greg Williamson said the plan was a critical first step in developing the 21-hectare site in the heart of Andergrove.
Cr Williamson said the area would be split into three distinct green precincts, each providing a unique feel for residents.
The Lake Precinct will allow residents to take in the serenity around the existing water feature while also incorporating large open spaces and shared paths for exercise, Cr Williamson said. ....
