Critical incident investigation underway after crash -Ballina
A critical incident investigation has been declared after a police pursuit in the State’s north.
Officers attached to Richmond Police District attempted to stop a vehicle on the Pacific Highway, Ballina about 7.35pm (Friday 7 May 2021)
When the vehicle failed to stop a low-speed pursuit was initiated. A short time later the man’s vehicle and a truck were involved in a head on crash.
The man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
The Pacific Highway is closed in both directions at West Ballina just south of the Bruxner Highway. ....

A number of roads have been closed by Northern Rivers councils after recent rain and due to other reasons.

Council is not aware of any other roads that are closed, she added.
As always - people should drive to the conditions and be aware that because the catchment is so wet, water rises quickly and can cause flash flooding in some areas.
