JOHOR BARU: The Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Department (Maqis) foiled an attempt to smuggle more than RM2, 300 worth of live catfish and frogs hidden in a van headed to Singapore. Johor Maqis director Hizzuan Hasim said enforcement personnel found a hidden container during an inspection on a van heading towards the Singapore at the Kompleks Sultan Abu Bakar near the Second Link, Tanjung Kupang here at 10am on Tuesday (June 8). He also said that the manifest declared that the van was carrying fish for export. An inspection revealed 20kg of live frogs and 20kg live catfish worth RM2, 300 without an export permit hidden among the other fish to confuse enforcement officers. ....
