The World Health Organization estimated that over a billion young people are at risk of hearing loss due to the common practice of listening to loud music for prolonged periods, according to its latest report released on Wednesday.
The Geneva-headquartered organization assessed that nearly 6 percent, or over 460 million of the population, experiences a moderate or higher degree of hearing loss, also termed as disabling hearing loss, according to its World Report on Hearing Hearing Care for All: Screen. Rehabilitate. Communicate , the first of its kind, launched by the WHO on World Hearing Day on Wednesday. ....

The World Health Organization estimated that over a billion young people are at risk of hearing loss due to the common practice of listening to loud music for prolonged periods, according to its latest report released on Wednesday.
The Geneva-headquartered organization assessed that nearly 6 percent, or over 460 million of the population, experiences a moderate or higher degree of hearing loss, also termed as disabling hearing loss, according to its World Report on Hearing Hearing Care for All: Screen. Rehabilitate. Communicate , the first of its kind, launched by the WHO on World Hearing Day on Wednesday.
According to the report, an estimated 60 percent of hearing loss in children can be avoided through public health measures. Action is urgently required to address these causes to curtail the growing need for ear and hearing care in the coming decades. ....
