Reserved
On Sunday, January 24, 2021, the Mafors (Queen Mothers) and mothers of the North West again converged on the Bamenda Grandstand to mourn and deplore the killings resulting from what has come to be known today as the Anglophone crisis.
They came from Bambili, Bambui, Nkwen, Mendankwe, Ndu, and Akum among other areas. As usual, they prayed, mourned, and sent messages to the belligerents in their local languages. Peace, they said, is the only thing they want.
They added that the ongoing crisis is only taking us as a region backward. In her exhortation, Rev. Caroline Memo urged the various churches to speak out against this scourge that has imposed untold suffering on our people. She warned that by not speaking out we are encouraging the war. ....

Cameroon-Info.Net:: Cameroon: Gunmen kidnap journalist Fung John Ngum in Bamenda

WhatsApp
The Cameroon Association of English-Speaking Journalists, CAMASEJ, has demanded the immediate and unconditional release of one of its members, Fung John Ngum.
The radio host and reporter was picked up early Wednesday, January 20, 2021, in Bamenda by yet-to-be-identified armed men, said Jude Viban, CAMASEJ President.
“Fung John, who is co-host of Press and Associate, a flagship programme of Bamenda-based Ndefcam radio, was kidnapped as he set out for work,” read a press release from the office of the president of CAMASEJ.
CAMASEJ considers this “shameful abduction” as part of the symptomatic degeneration of moral values in Cameroon.
“It is particularly worrisome that his abductors have not maintained any contact with his family or friends, thus fueling all forms of suspicion,” Viban said. ....
