Introducing the Gaming Nexus Show by: Elliot - posted: 5/19/2021 6:53:00 AM Can you have too much of a good thing? We don’t think so, and because of that some of us here at Gaming Nexus decided to put together The Gaming Nexus Show. Join Gaming Nexus writers Eric Hauter and Elliot Hilderbrand, our streaming partner Joseph M. Moorer, and game designer Max Mraz (he created Ocean s Heart). New episodes will be posted weekly. This week the boys tackle a number of topics, from the Venom 2 and Snake Eyes trailers to eBay banning the sale of adult games, and Twitch changing several policies. And that’s just the beginning! ....
Written by Eric Hauter on 5/10/2021 for PC PS4 SWI XBO XBSX Allow me to speak for a moment in defense of family-friendly gaming. For years, kids games have gotten a bad rap from both older gamers and the gaming press. There is a long-standing stereotype that kids games - particularly those based on popular franchises – are calculated, cheap cash grabs. The assumption is that companies take familiar licensed characters and slap them into undercooked platformers and shooters, with the thought that they are just for kids, so who cares? . Well, I have two little kids, aged eight and four, so I care. And they care. My kids play games like Sackboy, Astro s Playroom, and It Takes Two. They will not be satisfied with the sort of cheap, rushed-to-market kids’ games that polluted the SNES and Genesis era of gaming. They want good games, and they know the difference between games that were created with care, and shovel-ware nonsens ....
Sega announces Lost Judgment - the next game set in the Yakuza universe by: Eric - posted: 5/7/2021 2:25:00 PM So, I was just settling down for a nice, long Zoom meeting when I got a little ping on my phone. It was YouTube, informing me that there was a trailer for a new PlayStation game available. I didn t recognize the logo, so I attended my meeting without watching. Afterwards, I clicked the link and lost my mind. Lost Judgement is the sequel to Judgement - the new franchise set in the Yakuza universe. We here at Gaming Nexus dug into the first Judgement game last week when a shiny new remaster was released on next-gen platforms. So to see that a new story staring detective lawyer Takayuki Yagami is right around the corner is thrilling. ....
So, what are we playing? by: Randy - posted: 5/1/2021 6:43:00 PM
It was pretty clear in my review of Returnal that I haven t beaten it yet, but I m continuing to charge like a bull at that particular brick wall. Without the pressure to get it done in a set amount of time, I m enjoying taking a few runs a day and then setting it aside. My son is coming home from college for the weekend so we can watch the new Mortal Kombat together, and I m going to put him in front of Returnal and see what he can do. He s a far stronger gamer than I am. ....
It has taken me longer than scheduled to finish my review of Outriders. Partly, that’s due to personal reasons but there’s also another reason: I have frequently experienced server issues and I even fell victim to the infamous inventory-wipe bug. Due to this, I abandoned my late game Pyromancer and started a new character. I completed most of the game on the affected account but I rushed through the main campaign on my new character to get to the ending. Thankfully, developers People Can Fly successfully patched this bug so it won’t happen henceforth, and also announced plans to restore lost items. I’m reluctant to let these issues skew my review too much, but at the time of typing this up, the login issues persist. ....
