Boroondara Council is resisting plans to turn its staff car park into green open space for a local school and residents, despite having $1.7 million in state funding to create a shared garden.
The proposal would strip parking spaces from the staff at Boroondara Council, which manages the state-owned land and also provides permits for teachers from the neighbouring Camberwell Primary School and two-hour parking for the general public.

The Victorian School Building Authority – which confirmed $1.765 million had been set aside for landscaping and to create a sensory garden – wants the grounds to be used by Camberwell Primary School during school hours and the broader community on weekends after a request from locals. ....
