SINGAPORE: A total of seven new Ministry of Education (MOE) kindergartens will open in 2024 and 2025, said the ministry on Tuesday (May 25). 
All seven kindergartens will be located within primary schools and offer Kindergarten Care services, each offering about 100 to 120 Kindergarten 1 (K1) places. Five of the new kindergartens will open in 2024 and another two will open in 2025.

With the new kindergartens, there will be a total of 57 MOE kindergartens by 2025, providing about 7,900 K1 places.  ....

Sarawak childcare centres, kindergartens to reopen on Monday (May 17)


KUCHING: Childcare centres and kindergartens in Sarawak will be allowed to reopen on Monday (May 17), with strict compliance to standard operating procedure (SOP).
State Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said this was decided following Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin s announcement that nurseries, childcare centres and kindergartens can operate during the latest movement control order from May 12 to June 7.
The ministry has consulted with the state disaster management committee and a decision was made that all childcare centres and kindergartens will be allowed to operate starting May 17.
They must ensure full compliance with the SOP before, during and after the children s attendance, she said in a statement on Friday (May 14). ....

AK: Kindergartener hospitalized in serious condition after sandpit incident


A kindergartener has been hospitalized following an incident playing with other children in a sandpit, ETV news show Aktuaalne kaamera (AK) reported Wednesday night. A police investigation is looking at possible gross negligence on the part of the facility s on-duty teachers.
AK reported that the child, whose age was not given, was taken to hospital Tuesday, where they remain, in a condition described as serious.
A group of children had been playing in the sandpit, at the Terakes kindergarten in Saku, near Tallinn, under the supervision of two teachers, at the time the incident took place, AK reported.
What we know is that the children were playing in the sandbox, and were digging, Urmet Tambre, head of the Police and Border Guard Board s (PPA) northern prefecture said. ....

An association for private kindergartens in Japan has revealed that money totaling some ¥320 million became unaccounted for in the three years until fiscal 2019.
According to the Tokyo-based association, the total damage is expected to exceed ¥400 million, including money that went missing in fiscal 2020.
The association is considering lodging a criminal complaint against its former head, Kei Kagawa, 69.
Kagawa has denied that he used the funds for private purposes. ....
