Community safety and well-being plan targets troubling trends


The City of Timmins has officially adopted the 2021-22 Community Safety and Well-Being Plan.
Council made the decision during its meeting on Tuesday, after receiving the final report and listening to a presentation from Trimeda president Melanie Verreault.

“This journey started back in the fall of 2019 and here we are almost 18 months later with a really interesting road taken to get to the destination we have here tonight,” she said.

Crime trends highlighted in TPS annual report

The Timmins Police Service has released its annual report for 2020 which included some concerning trends.
In a conference call police board meeting on Thursday morning, Chief John Gauthier explained that despite the added obstacles posed by the pandemic, the TPS maintained a high level of diligence and commitment to major areas of concern.
