Gatton could soon be home to another Containers For Change Refund Point, if the community gets behind the company s expressions of interest call.
Container Exchange is calling for expressions of interest from individuals, community groups and businesses who are interested in operating a Containers for Change refund point.
The not-for-profit organisation delivers the scheme across Queensland, and the new service point would cater to all Lockyer Valley residents.
Currently, Anuha Services operates the scheme from both the Laidley and Gatton refuse sites.
CEO Ken Noye recognised the success of the scheme to date, and the importance of building upon its growth by continuing to provide Queenslanders with greater accessibility to the scheme. ....

New details on 'extensive redesign' of old Masters site

EXCITEMENT is building with the former Masters store in Springfield, which has sat unused for five years, set to finally be resurrected.
The three-hectare site is owned by property group Home Consortium, which acquired the assets of Masters Home Improvement in 2016 when it was shut down.
The delay in redeveloping the site could be put down to a legal battle with a rival shopping centre in the area.
The building will undergo an “extensive redesign” according to the Greater Springfield Facebook page.
The Masters site was taken over by Home Consortium in 2016.
“Greater Springfield’s HomeCo will cater to a wide range of home design and decorating needs, as well as a mix of national lifestyle and service brands,” it states. ....

Clever Whitsunday group named face of Containers for Change


Eco Barge Clean Seas founder Libby Edge said Containers for Change had helped reduce the number of containers seen in Whitsunday waters.
“I founded Eco Barge Clean Seas to go out there and clean our beaches and protect our marine life from the threat of marine debris,” she said.
“We have now removed over 206,000kg of debris from our islands.
“Thanks to the Containers for Change scheme, we have seen a dramatic reduction in empty beverage containers actually going out to sea. That’s helping us protect our marine life.
“When you see a vulnerable sea turtle come into our care and it is so sick and so touch and go, to be able to release that beautiful turtle back into the ocean – well that’s our job done right.” ....

Queenslanders crushed a record earlier this week as recyclers across the state returned 7.366 million containers for refunds.
The previous record for the largest single day of returns was December 23, 2019 when
6.726 million containers were returned across the state.
The Containers for Change scheme pays 10 cents for each eligible beverage container
returned by individuals, community groups and businesses at registered Container Refund
Points (CRPs).
