GDQ s Flames Fatales all-women speedrunning event schedule has been released

The summer of speedrunning continues as Frame Fatales brings its all-women speedrunning event to the world. The event, Flame Fatales, is being hosted by Games Done Quick and is scheduled to take place in August and will be raising money for the Malala Fund. Frame Fatales revealed the schedule for the Flames Fatales event in a press release and a Twitter post. The week-long event is slotted in on August 15 and is set to wrap on August 21. There are a few runs that standout, including Fell’s run of Celeste’s Quickie Mountain 2 on PC, Bree12am’s Super Meat Boy Any% run, xChristine’s Ninja Gaiden Any% run on the NES, and Alexxa’s Hollow Knight attempt which is an Impossible Any% Mod run.

Summer Games Done Quick 2021 Raises Over $2 9 Million

Tuesday, July 13, 2021 Back in January, the Awesome Games Done Quick event managed to raise over $2.75 million for Prevent Cancer Foundation. Their next event, Summer Games Done Quick, took place throughout last week and the team has revealed they managed to raise a similar figure this time; more than $2.9 million pledged by their supporters will be heading towards Médecins Sans Frontières, otherwise known as Doctors Without Borders. A total of 153 speedruns took place between July 4-11. Between them, they managed to raise a total of $2,909,764.35 from 40,359 donors at the time of writing; one person donated over $250,000 towards the worthy cause. While the event is now over, viewers can still donate through the Games Done Quick website towards that impressive total. The grateful recipient, Doctors Without Borders, is a team of volunteer doctors and health sector workers that travel to areas where medical aid is needed the most, such as natural disasters or war zones.

SGDQ 2021 raises $2.9 million for Doctors Without Borders It’s been another successful year for Summer Games Done Quick, even after the shift to an online-only format in the wake of COVID-19. The week-long speedrunning festival, which featured everything from RPG games like Dragon Age: Inquisition to classic platformers, brought in over $2.9 million in viewer donations. Those donations will go to Médecins Sans Frontières – also known as Doctors Without Borders – which is an international humanitarian aid organisation that sends medical workers to areas of the world hit by wars and endemic diseases. The total amount collected in donations was $2,909,644.35 USD (which works out to £2,095,802.28).
