Battery Mineral Resources Corp.: Battery Mineral Resources Adds Deep Penetrating Geophysics to Enhance Target Acquisition at Gowganda East
Battery or

Company ) announces that it has commenced a grid-based three dimensional distributed induced polarization ( 3D IP ) survey on the Gowganda East target as a precursor to final target selection for the forthcoming core drill program of up to 2,000 meters.
Highlights
This 3D IP geophysical survey is targeting the east limb of the Nipissing diabase sill which remains largely unexplored despite its geological similarity to the historic producers in the camp. The underlying geology in the survey area is similar to the near-by Canada Silver Cobalt Works Inc. Castle East Robinson zone which recently announced a maiden silver-cobalt mineral resource.
Nationalizing Zambia s copper mines
The Zambian government has taken over operations at a major copper mining company in what is seen as a move towards increasing its direct control of the key mining sector. Economists are urging Lusaka to tread carefully.
The COVID pandemic has led to job losses in Zambia s mining industry
Economists in Zambia paid close attention when the government announced that it would acquire Mopani Copper Mines Limited. The copper and cobalt exporting firm is jointly operated by companies based in Switzerland and Canada. The Zambian government owns only 10% of the company.
There had been a string of conflicts with the Swiss-based Glencore plc and Canada-based First Quantum Minerals Limited over a temporary shutdown of its mines in the northern Copperbelt Province. The points of contention were due to the COVID pandemic and retrenchments, taxes, and electricity pricing.
The United States’ transition to new energy will require increased domestic mineral production, Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm said on Tuesday March 9.
“Many parts of the country are sitting on top of the materials that we need to produce battery technologies,” Granholm said during a webinar hosted by renewable advocacy group Securing America’s Future Energy.
Granholm said that there would be “huge demand” for sustainable mineral supply chains in the US, both to serve the US electric vehicle (EV) industry and to provide jobs for coal miners who may be affected by falling demand for fossil fuels.
“Having [coal workers] mine for critical materials is a natural shift for them,” Granholm said.

Precious metals extraction and recovery firm Cobalt Mining pleaded guilty a provincial offences court in Ontario for violations of safety regulations after a worker was injured by a piece of machinery at one of its facilities, according to a court bulletin recently published by the Ontario Ministry of Labour. The company faces a fine of CAD$75,000, or about $58,700.
A worker at the company’s McAlpine Mill custom feed milling operation near Cobalt, ON was critically injured in a conveying system on Feb. 7, 2019. The worker was assigned to duties in the facility’s crushing house. A millwright asked the worker to apply belt dressing on a slipping conveyor belt before the incident occurred.
