Comelec not opposed to higher pay for teachers during polls

THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Friday, April 16, 2021, said it does not oppose the proposal of the Department of Education (DepEd) to increase the honorarium given to teachers when they serve during elections.
“Comelec is willing to work with the DepEd in order to find ways to either accommodate their requests or, in the appropriate instances, to help them achieve the results they seek, Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said in a statement.
He said they were aware of the risks and sacrifices that teachers take when they serve as members of the Board of Election Inspectors (BEIs) in voting precincts. ....

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is willing to work with the Department of Education (DepEd) regarding its request to provide additional pay for teaching and non-teaching personnel serving as poll workers in the 2022 elections.
“[T]he Comelec recognizes the invaluable role played by teachers in ensuring the success of elections,” Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez told GMA News Online. ....

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Tuesday said its experience with the Palawan plebiscite will help in planning the 2022 elections amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
“[This election] will help us plan for the 2022 election in terms of anti-COVID response,” Comelec Commissioner Antonio Kho Jr. said in a live briefing. ....

Dobleng paningkamot ang gihimo karon sa Commission on Elections (Comelec) pagpasabot sa mga Sugboanon sa importansya ug katungod sa pagbotar sa umaabot piniliay sa Mayo 2022.
Kini maoy gibutyag ni Atty. Lionel Castillano, pangu sa Comelec- Cebu Province.
