Gauteng Premier David Makhura says some 40 healthcare workers will be vaccinated on the first day of the roll-out in Gauteng.

Makhura toured the vaccination centre at Chris Hani Baragwanath hospital on Wednesday, where Gauteng Health MEC Dr Nomathemba Mokgethi was the first to receive a jab.

Makhura said Gauteng received 16 800 doses, of which 11 800 were allocated to Baragwanath on Soweto because it is the largest hospital in the province.
